"Esther Juon: dancers and their feet" Click to Listen --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1-Dec-2014 ESTHER JUON & RUTH SWINNEY PRESENTED ESTHER'S TOE AND FOOT TAPING PRESENTATION AT THE IADMS CONFERENCE IN BASEL, SWITZERLAND ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 28-Sep-2014 ESTHER JUON TO PRESENT AT THE IADMS CONFERENCE IN BASEL, SWITZERLAND Esther with be away from 1-Oct-14 until 30-Nov-14. Friday 17th October, together with Ruth Swinney Esther will be presenting a movement session at IADMS annual conference about taping of the toes and fore-foot rather that using a silicone pouch inside a pointe shoe. Sunday 9th November, following the Basel presentation Esther will be presenting a full day workshop in Brighton covering information about feet, exercises and taping methods for dancer preparing for, or already on pointe. She has also been invited to teach ballet classes in Brighton. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9-June-2013 NEW ZEALAND DANCE COMPANY VISITS JUON POINTE It was wonderful when the company bus stopped opposite our studio in Waipawa on their way down to Wellington. The dancers all came to our studio for a foot workshop. We presented them with a Power Point presentation about the anatomy of the foot and then shared exercises with them to strengthen the feet, explored taping of the toes and feet for training purposes and gave one dancer a foot joint mobilisation treatment. It was amazing to work with these wonderful dancers and we hope to do so again sometime in the future. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9-May-2013 DANCER WELLNESS PROJECT (DWP) We are delighted to announce that our assessment work been accepted onto the Dancer Wellness Project! Gary Galbraith ex Martha Graham dancer and now Professor at Ohio University, USA and his wife Karen Potter also a famous ex dancer and now assistant Professor arrived from America for a 4 day course with us here to connect us to the prestigious DWP program which has been in the making for the last 10 years. Until now this very special program was only on offer to professional dance companies and full time dance training schools all over the world. We are the first company in new Zealand and at Grass roots level to be accepted onto the program. Our current assessments have been adapted by Gary to accommodate the young dancer into the program and we can offer the benefits of this program to all dancers we assess without any additional cost to the dancer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 25-April - 28th April -2013 Foot Joint Mobilisation Course with Maree Gifkins This course was a wonderful opportunity to gain more knowledge about the bones of the feet and a great deal to add to our work with feet and Pointe Shoes. . Esther and Jackie were joined by Lisa Gordeno from Sydney and Ruth Swinney from Paraparaumu at our National Pointe Shoe fitting Centre in Waipawa. The course lasted four days and as it was practical we got our own feet treated. There was also a lot of theory and at the end of the course, we all passed our final exam and are now allowed to practice this new skill. Esther Juon has been asked to be a correspondent on the IADMS International Liaisons Network (INL) Healthier Dancer Programme with her work on Custom Pointe Shoe Fitting!
