Then on Saturday we finally left Marie-Anne’s and travelled to Norfolk to stay with our friend John Cox. He has a lovely little cottage in an ex-railway town. He was a great host and we had a fantastic walk through the mud flats to the beach. We took our shoes and socks off and enjoyed a squelching walk through the mud. I still have bits of mud under my toenails but it was fun and we enjoyed it very much. The highlight of the visit was the extreme high tide at Morton a very John Cox thing to go and see. Also I was overjoyed that a neighbour of John’s had an unencrypted WiFi network running so we could have free internet broadband connection.

Unfortunately there is still no sign of our mobile home. We really wanted to see it before it got shipped to New Zealand. But it is not to be. The factory has been on their annual holidays and with that they are behind with the building of the motor homes. We elected a friend of Fergus’s, Richard Lamb, to check it out for us when it arrives and with that decision taken we decided to leave for Switzerland after all.

So we left John on the 25th August  at 5:45am and raced down to Dover for an 11:30am Hoverspeed ferry.
